Delhi Capitals beat Gujarat Giants by six wickets in a one-sided affair at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Tuesday, February 25. With this win, the Capitals moved to the top of the points table, displacing Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Meg Lanning won the toss and opted to field first on a greenish surface. Marizanne Kapp used the seamer-friendly conditions to her advantage and picked up a couple of wickets with the new ball. Her new-ball partner Shika Pandey also bagged two wickets as Gujarat lost four inside the powerplay.

Deandra Dottin, Ashleigh Gardner, and Tanuja Kanwar tried to resurrect the innings but Delhi bowlers rarely missed their mark. Bharti Fulmali, who came out to bat at No. 8, played a gutsy innings of 40 not out from 29 balls as Gujarat finished on 127/9 in their 20 overs. Apart from Kapp and Pandey, Annabel Sutherland also bagged two wickets. Meanwhile, Titas Sadhu and Jess Jonassen chipped in with one wicket apiece.

In the second innings, Lanning failed to get going and departed for three runs after facing 13 balls. However, Shafali Verma and Jess Jonassen put the Gujarat bowlers to the cleaners by forging a swashbuckling 74-run standoff with 37 deliveries.

Shafali was dismissed in the 10th over after scoring 44 runs off 27 balls. She hit five fours and three sixes during her knock. Jemimah Rodrigues and Sutherland were dismissed cheaply before Jonassen and Kapp took Delhi home in the 16th over.

Jonassen finished unbeaten on 61 of 32 balls, belting nine fours and two sixes. Kapp hit the winning runs when she scored a boundary off Priya Mishra between mid-off and extra cover.

Kaveesha Gautam was the pick of the bowlers for Gujarat as she picked up two wickets for 26 runs in four overs. However, she did not get the support she would have hoped for and the target was also not very challenging.
