Rohit Sharma-led team India comfortably took a 2-0 lead against Australia in the four-match Test series played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Team India emerged victorious by six wickets on Day 3 against the Aussies courtesy of a sensational bowling performance.

The Aussies kickstarted the proceedings on Day 3 with a 62-run lead. However, what followed was a thunderous performance by spin-twins Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja as the duo took the onus of restricting the rival side from scoring big.

The star all-rounder ripped through the batting line-up as he returned with exquisite bowling figures of 7/42 in his 12.1 overs in the third innings, which was also his career best with the ball in Test cricket. Veteran spinner Ashwin added three wickets to his name as Australia lost their last eight wickets for just 28 runs in the space of 74 balls.

The utter capitulation essentially meant that India were well on course to seal the contest as the Cummins-led side were restricted to a meagre 113 runs. Furthermore, India were to chase 115 runs as Australia had a one-run lead after India's first innings.

Cheteshwar Pujara, KS Bharat steer India to 2-0 lead

In response to the paltry 115 set by the visitors, India lost opener KL Rahul early on towards the end of the first session. This was followed by Rohit Sharma’s quick-fire 20-ball 31 knock before he was sent packing courtesy of a run-out.

Despite losing the two wickets swiftly in the chase, flamboyant batter Virat Kohli and Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara stitched a 30-run partnership to further get the side ahead in the contest. It is worth mentioning that Kohli attained an impressive milestone on Day 3 as he aggregated 25,000 runs across all three formats of the sport with his 31-ball 20.

Srikar Bharat (23*) and Pujara (31*) then comfortably steered the side to seal the contest by six wickets and take a 2-0 lead in the four-match series
