Surnisers Eastern Cape continued their victory juggernaut in SA20 2024 as they beat Pretoria Capitals by nine wickets on Monday, January 22 during Match 15 at St George's Park, Gqeberha. After being put in to bat first, Pretoria were bundled out for just 52 in 13.3 overs as they were blown away by the Ottniel Baartmen (4/12) and Daniel Worral (3/22). In reply, Sunrisers lost their opener Dawid Malan (1 off 2) in the second over with just four runs on the board. However, Jordan Hermann (20 off 17) and Tom Abell (31 off 22) made sure there were no hiccups in the chase and chased down the target in just 6.5 overs to set up a nine wicket win for Sunrisers.
After being put in to bat first, Pretoria Capitals got off to a brisk start as openers Philip Salt (10 off 7) and Will Jacks (12 off 12) added 25 runs off 18 balls. Their stand was broken by Daniel Worrall who dismissed Salt in the third over. Marco Jansen gave a double whammy to Pretoria as he got rid of Will Jacks on the very next ball to send both openers back in the pavilion with 25 runs on the board.

From there on, there was no stopping Sunrisers Eastern Cape bowlers who ran a rampage on Pretoria’s batting lineup and bundled them out for the lowest total in SA20 history. After dismissing Salt, Worrall also got the big scalps of Rilee Rossouw (1 off 9) and Jimmy Neesham (2 off 6) to finish with figures of 3/22 after four overs. Jansen further accounted for Kyle Verreynne (8 off 10) and registered figures of 2/11 in three overs.
Ottniel Baartman picked 4/12 in 3.3 overs
However, it was right-arm seamer Ottniel Baartman who was the pick of the bowlers for Sunrisers with figures of 4/12 in 3.3 overs. The 30-year-old dismissed Colin Ingram (1 off 2), Senuran Muthuswamy (1 off 5), Wayne Parnell (9 off 14) and Eathan Bosch (1 off 10) to complete his four-fer.

Courtesy of his breathtaking bowling display, Pretoria couldn’t even survive 20 overs and were bundled out for just 52 in 13.3 overs.
