After losing the first T20I by a massive nine-wicket margin, Australia women levelled the three-match series against India beating them by six wickets in the second T20I on Sunday, January 07 at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. After being put in to bat first, India were restricted to 130/8 in their allotted 20 overs as Annabel Sutherland (2/18) and Georgia Wareham (2/17) picked two wickets each.
In reply, Australia comfortably chased down the target in 19 overs with Ellyse Perry top-scoring with 34* (21). Australia’s chase got off to a good start with openers Alyssa Healy (26 off 21) and Beth Mooney (20 off 29) adding 51 runs for the first wicket off 43 balls. Their stand was broken by Deepti Sharma (2/22) who dismissed Healy and Mooney in consecutive overs.
Tahlia McGrath walked in at number four but failed to take her team home getting dismissed for 19 (21) against Shreyanka Patil while while Asheligh Gardner (7 off 10) also departed cheaply to leave Australia on 97/4 after 15.4 overs.
With 34 needed to win from 26 balls Elysse Perry and Phoebe Litchfield (18* off 12) got involved in a crucial stand to help their side reach the target in 19 overs. As a result, Australia won the match by six wickets and levelled the series 1-1.
Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma helped India reach a fighting total
Earlier in the day, after being put in to bat first, India didn’t get off to a good start with opener Shafali Verma (1 off 6) getting dismissed by Kim Garth (2/27) in the second over itself with just four runs on the board. Garth further accounted for Jemimah Rodrigues (13 off 9) in her second over to leave India on 20/2.
Smriti Mandhana (23 off 26) and Harmanpreet Kaur (6 off 12) also failed to get going leaving India on 54/4 after 10.1 overs. Some useful contributions from Richa Ghosh (23 off 19) and Deepti Sharma (30 off 27) helped India finish with a fighting score of 130/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

The pacer had to bowl in the 19th over. Harman made many wrong decisions in the bowling department.

But the first two matches felt exactly the same and the Indian team proved to be better in it. The final match depends on the toss.#INDvAUS #INDWvAUSW

Team India should be happy that in the two matches of this series you have played better cricket than Australia.

They have the last match left and my advice is to reduce one pacer and replace her with a spinner. The way they defend a low score is impressive.#INDWvAUSW #INDvAUS
The #DYPatilstadium must be throbbing with energy. Great to see the fans come in numbers to support @BCCIWomen. This game could be heading for a tight finish #INDWvAUSW #T20I

@ImHarmanpreet keeps including #AmanjotKaur in playing XI since she is #Kaur? #Amanjot is not at all a potential allrounder & needs to be removed from the team! Very poor game from her.. No batting or bowling skills! @mandhana_smriti @JemiRodrigues @13richaghosh #INDWvAUSW
