The West Indies and England continued their ongoing five-game T20I series by facing off in the third T20I. Both sides locked horns at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia, on Thursday, November 14. Having won the first two T20Is, England aimed to win the third clash to clinch the series, where the Windies looked for a ray of hope.
The third T20I began with the West Indies coming in to bat first after losing the toss. The Windies opened the innings with Evin Lewis and Shai Hope scoring three and four runs, respectively. Nicholas Pooran added seven runs on the board, with Roston Chase adding seven runs as well.
The entirety of the West Indies’ top-order failed to go big; after Shimron Hetmyer’s dismissal on a score of two runs, it was the knocks of Rovman Powell and Romario Shepherd that stabilised the innings for the hosts.
Powell scored 54 runs in 41 deliveries, with Shepherd adding 30 runs on the board as well. Furthermore, after Alzarri Joseph scored unbeaten 21 runs, the Windies managed to post a total of 145 runs in the first innings of the game.
As for England, Saqib Mahmood and Jamie Overton took three wickets each, with Jofra Archer taking one wicket as well.
