Pakistan had set a low target of 167 runs for England to win, and the visitors needed just 55 runs on the fourth day to clinch a win, with eight wickets in hand. The visitors, who dominated the first two Tests in Rawalpindi and Multan, chased down the low target with ease in their final innings and went on to finish a 3-0 series whitewash.

Pakistan managed to put up 304 runs in the first innings after England spinners Jack Leach and debutant Rehan Ahmed shared six wickets between themselves to put an end to the hosts’ innings. England’s start to the chase to wipe out the first innings deficit was not much fruitful, as opener Zak Crawley was dismissed for a five-ball duck. But Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope shared a 58-run stand for the second wicket and balanced the innings.

Harry Brook was the star of the show for England as he notched up a brilliant century, while also forming crucial partnerships with Ollie Pope, skipper Ben Stokes and wicketkeeper-batter Ben Foakes. Mark Wood’s heroics towards the end helped England end with a 50-run lead in hand. Pakistan batters could not do much in their second innings as English debutant Rehan Ahmed stole the show.

The 18-year-old became the youngest ever player to pick up a five-wicket haul in the history of Test cricket as he etched his name in history books. The young spinner picked up the crucial wickets of Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, and Mohammad Rizwan alongside wickets of Agha Salman and Mohammad Wasim.

As a result, Pakistan were bundled out for 216 runs in their second innings, handing England a target of just 167 runs to chase on the third day. England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett stitched up an 87-run partnership before Abrar Ahmed dismissed the former. England sent Rehan Ahmed as the nightwatchman on the third day, but he was dismissed after scoring ten runs off eight balls.

Requiring just 55 runs to win the game, England batters Duckett and skipper Ben Stokes resumed the game on the fourth day and chased down the score with sheer ease, in less than 12 overs. Having traveled to Pakistan after 17 years, it was a major achievement for England as they won the game by eight wickets and completed a magnificent series white-wash.
