Twitter Reactions: England falter in run chase after New Zealand’s exceptional batting on day 3

New Zealand and England continued their ongoing third Test of the series. Both sides locked horns on day 3 of the clash at Seddon Park, Hamilton. It is worth noting that day 2 of the clash saw the Black Caps on the crease with a score of 136 runs with the loss of three wickets.
However, Day 3 began with rain playing spoilsport until lunch. With Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra on the crease, Williamson went on to play a marvellous knock, scoring 156 runs in 204 deliveries. Furthermore, Rachin Ravindra departed after posting 44 runs on the board as well.
Furthermore, the Black Caps continued their innings with Daryl Mitchell scoring 60 runs with Tom Blundell staying unbeaten on a score of 44 runs. Mitchell Santner added 49 runs on the board, and New Zealand posted a mammoth total of 453 runs on the board in the second innings.
As for England, Jacob Bethell was the highest wicket-taker in the second innings with three wickets to his name. Ben Stokes and Shoaib Bashir took two wickets each, alongside Matthew Potts, Gus Atkinson, and Joe Root, who struck once each as well.
England lose two early wickets in mammoth run chase
After New Zealand posted a total of 453 runs in the second innings, England got a target of 658 runs to chase down across the next two days. Aiming to chase down the target, England got off to the worst of starts to the run chase as openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett departed on scores of five and four runs, respectively.

The Day 3 of the third Test ended with England on a score of 18 runs, having lost two wickets in the process. The side will hope for an exceptional performance across the two days in hopes of chasing the target.
