Twitter Reactions: Fans ecstatic as Yashasvi Jaiswal smashes maiden century in Australia with Perth heroics
It is also worth mentioning that Jaiswal has so far smashed 12 boundaries and three maximums.
India have been all over Australia in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25), being played at the Optus Stadium, in Perth. They restricted the hosts to just 104 runs and generated a lead of 56 runs. India openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul made use of the improved batting conditions and kept the scoreboard ticking as they batted the whole day of Day 2.
Day 3 brought the end of a 201-run stand between the duo as Rahul departed scoring 77 runs. But Jaiswal dug his base deep at the Optus and brought his maiden Test Ton in Australia. It is worth noting that, on Day 2 he also surpassed the former New Zealand batter, Brendon McCullum, in scoring the most sixes in a calendar year. While McCullum took nine matches to score 33 maximums. Jaiswal reached the 34th six off Nathan Lyon on Day 2 in his 12th game of the year.
After Rahul walked back after a resilient knock, the southpaw found a partner in the form of Devdutt Padikkal. Just before the Lunch, both the players shared an unbeaten 74-run stand between them. While Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 141 off 264, Padikkal resumed his innings on 25 off 70 balls. It is also worth mentioning that Jaiswal has so far smashed 12 boundaries and three maximums.

On the other hand, Australian bowlers are toiling hard to get the momentum back. With every passing over their hopes of sneak through is diminishing. The only Indian wicket they managed to take, was through Mitchell Starc. Their top four bowlers including spinner, Nathan Lyon have bowled close to 20 overs each but the dividend looks far-fetched.
