It was yet another dominant display by England as they notched up yet another Test victory against Sri Lanka, with their 190-run win bringing the three-match series to a close with a game in the bank. The touring side were put forth a target of 483, which was improbable, to say the least.

Despite the magnitude of the target, the Lankans put on a dogged resistance. Dimuth Karunaratne, Dinesh Chandimal, and Dhananjaya de Silva put on respective half-centuries. But none of them could capitalize on their scores to register a big one as a splendid performance courtesy of Gus Atkinson with the ball carried the hosts along.

It was Atkinson's third five-for in four innings at Lord's which stole the show as he complemented his batting performance in the first innings, perfectly capping off a near-perfect Test match for him. The fourth innings saw a total of nine out of the ten Lankan wickets falling to catches, with the Sri Lankan skipper being the only one to get dismissed via another mode of dismissal.
