Twitter Reactions: Hardik Pandya's heroics steer India into semis as Bangladesh capitulate

India took on Bangladesh in Match 47 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on June 22. Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli seemed to have found their groove as they scored 23 and 37 respectively. Rishabh Pant looked in solid touch with his usual risky self and fetched 36 runs for the team. Suryakumar Yadav departed on the second after dispatching the first one for a six. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube did the toiling in death as they formed a 53-run partnership as India put up 196 runs on the board.

While chasing, Bangladesh were provided with a tailormade start by Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan as they scored 13 and 29 respectively. Towhid Hridoy, Shakib Al Hasan, and Jaker Ali shared 16 runs between them as Kuldeep Yadav ripped apart the middle order. Najmul Hossain Shanto impressed with his fighting 40-run knock and Rishad Hossain showed some intent with his 24 runs in 10 balls. For India, Kuldeep dazzled with three scalps, whereas, Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah plucked two each and India won the game by 50 runs.

Pandya powers India into semis of T20 World Cup

Pandya was the man of the hour as he took the Bangladesh bowlers to the cleaners from the word go. He painted the Antigua with a flurry of boundaries and kept the run rate in check as India cruised past the par score. The all-rounder smashed four boundaries and three maximums on a sluggish surface with an unbeaten 50 off 27 balls and was handy with the ball by picking one wicket. He was termed as the Man of the Match and India cemented their spot in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024.
