Day 3 of the one-off Test between India and England women saw the hosts clean house and register a mammoth victory against the Heather Knight-led England. It is safe to say that India dominated the clash throughout the day and put in a performance of a lifetime.

Posting 428 runs on the board in the first innings, the side managed to bundle England out for just 136 runs and maintain the advantage. Furthermore, the side posted 186 runs on the board in the second innings and declared, giving England a huge target of 479 runs to chase.

The visitors’ second innings did not get off to a good start. Openers Sophia Dunkley and Tammy Beaumont were sent packing for 15 and 17 runs, respectively. Skipper Heather Knight was unable to make any impact as she departed for just 21 runs.

However, much to England’s surprise, Knight’s knock of 21 runs was the highest score by any batter in the side during the second innings of the clash. Falling prey to India’s brilliant bowling attack, Nat Sciver-Brunt went out for a duck, with Danni Wyatt and Amy Jones failing to go big as well. Sophie Ecclestone amassed 10 runs, and Charlie Dean stayed unbeaten for 20 runs as England lost the game.

As for India, Deepti Sharma was once again the highest wicket-taker in the second innings. After her brilliant five-wicket haul in the first innings, Deepti followed it up by taking four wickets during the run chase and spoiling England’s plans.

Pooja Vastrakar took three wickets, and with Rajeshwari Gayakwad taking two and Renuka Singh striking once, India women bundled out England for just 131 runs during the run chase and won the game by a whopping 347 runs.
