While chasing, Shafali Verma departed after scoring 25 runs and Priya Puniya contributed 28 runs. Smriti Mandhana remained steadfast at the other end as Harmanpreet Kaur entered the fray. The duo put up a 48-run stand for the third wicket before Mandhana departed scoring 90 runs. Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues started building the innings again but Kaur was subjected to an unfortunate run-out at the other end. But Jemimah and Richa made sure there were no further hiccups and India won the game by six wickets and 56 balls to spare.
“I've never been great at taking caught and bowleds, but I was lucky to have a couple stick today. They had a good opening partnership, we needed a wicket at that point. We just needed to stick to the plans we had made at our meetings. Today's wicket was a bit slower. You had to adjust and use a lot of slower ones and stick to bowling consistently. This was a small adjustment that I had to make today,” said Arundhati after the game.
