Pacer Jayden Seales was the star performer on Day 2 of the second Test between West Indies and Bangladesh, at the Sabina Park Oval in Jamaica. Batting first, Shadman Islam gave the visitors a decent start, scoring 64 runs, but the opener had very little support from the other end. Shahadat Hossain Dipu and captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz made 22 and 36 runs respectively as the visiting side posted only 164 runs in the first innings.

Meanwhile, Seales clinched a four-wicket haul and bowled 10 maidens out of the 15.5 overs he bowled. The 23-year-old was ruthless towards the end, picking up the important wicket of Miraz, who was looking in good touch. Shamar Joesph had a terrific day with the ball as well, picking up three wickets, while veteran Kemar Roach notched two and Alzarri Joseph picked up his solitary wicket in the form of Taijul Islam.

The batters had a decent start in the second innings. Capitan Kraigg Brathwaite took his time as the opener remained unbeaten for 33 runs off 115 deliveries on Day 2. The other opener Mikyle Louis departed after scoring 12 runs. Nahid Rana got the better of him in the 13th over of the game. After his dismissal, Keacy Carty took the crease and remained not-out for 19 runs off 60.

West Indies posted 70/1 and trail by 94 runs at Stumps. The hosts would expect for a better batting show on Day 3 and take an important lead to put Bangladesh under pressure. After the end of the day’s play, pacer Shamar talked about West Indies’ brilliant bowling performance and mentioned having a chat with the coach during their preparation and added that he wanted to stick to his basics and that gave him the result.

“We always wanted to come out here and give our best. We had a few conversations with the bowling coach. He told us to stick to our basics as much as possible. For me, I just stick to the plans. I try to bowl as fast and accurately as possible. I try to bowl it on a good line and length all the time,” he said.
