Ahead of Match 13 of the Women's T20 World Cup, both Bangladesh and West Indies had won and lost one game each in their campaign, with both the sides desperate for a victory to keep their chances of progressing out of the group alive.

Opting to bowl first, it was a decent start from the West Indies. Bangladesh would have been the happier of the two sides at the end of the powerplay had it not been for Dilara Akter getting cleaned up. A total of 14 runs were scored in the eighth over, which saw Bangladeshi skipper, Nigar Sultana, get a move on. Bangladesh were proceeding along quite well till the beginning of the 13th over, from which point, their innings was halted. Three wickets in a space of 11 deliveries completely flipped the tide, as Bangladesh could never really recover from that point.

Their inning was replete with dot balls as Sultana top-scored with 39. However, it was a knock which came off 44 deliveries. The last over also saw Hayley Matthews picking up her opposite number as all Bangladesh could afford is 103 on the board. The pick of the bowlers was Karishma Ramharack, who ended with figures of 4/17 in her four-over spell.

The Women in Maroon started off their run-chase with a bang, with Matthews going berserk in the final three overs of the first six. Much like West Indies' previous game against the Scottish, they had reached a 45-plus score within the powerplay, but this time without losing any of their batters. Marufa Akter provided the first blow, but it seemed a tad bit too late. Stefanie Taylor, who was the more easy-going out of the two openers, retired hurt a delivery post notching the 1,000-run milestone in T20Is.

Shemaine Campbelle was looking for the NRR-boosting runs and was stumped in the process. However, it was Deandra Dottin who secured a thumping victory as a couple of slog-sweeps in the 13th over cleared the ropes with ease to grant the West Indies a convincing victory with another thorough showing from them. In fact, the margin of victory was enough to take them at the top of Group B with a healthy net run rate of +1.708.
