Australia outsmarted India convincingly in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25), at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. After winning the toss, India opted to bat first and was restricted to 180 runs by the hosts. The hosts proved why they have been dominating in pink-ball Test matches over the years as they showcased brilliant effort with the ball in their first innings, thanks to Mitchell Starc's six-fer.

Travis Head once again stole the spotlight as he notched a brilliant ton, scoring 140 runs off 141 deliveries, and was well complemented by Marnus Labuschagne's 64 off 126. Indian pacers had a rough day on the field as both batters smashed them all around the Oval. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah shared eight wickets between them, which also included Siraj getting the big wicket of Head, followed up with rattling the Australian tail. The Pat Cummins-led side's innings finally came to an end after being bundled for 337, taking a huge 157-run lead.

In response, the Indian batting faltered against the Aussie pacers as they failed to take a huge lead. The side who were at one stage looking to be bundled under 150, got a glimmer of hope from Nitish Kumar Reddy's knock of 42, who eventually was dismissed by Cummins via Nathan McSweeney. The tourists somehow wiped off the deficit, but the lower-order could manage to give a target of 19 runs to the tally which the Aussies easily chased down, winning the game by 10 wickets. The biggest positive for the side in their second innings was the Aussie skipper's five-wicket haul.

Australia made a roaring comeback to the series after losing the Perth Test. The five-match series is leveled at 1-1 with the next game being played in Brisbane.
