West Indies and England locked horns in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on November 2. The hosts were 1-0 up in the series after a comfortable victory in the opener.

Visiting Skipper Liam Livingstone called it correctly at the toss and opted to field first. Both the teams made one notable change to their XIs, with Saqib Mahmood replacing Jamie Overton for England, while Shamar Joseph replaced Alzarri Joseph for the home team.

West Indies got off to a poor start, losing both their openers Brandon King (7 off 10) and Evin Lewis (4 off 6) under the first fours. With the side being at the backfoot earlier in the game, skipper Shai Hope and Keacy Carty took it upon themselves to get the side back in the game. From 12/2, these two batters put up a much-needed 142-run stand.

While Carty walked back after a well-made 77-ball 71, his partner continued the onslaught. In the meantime, Hope brought up an impressive ton and played a great captain's inning. He along with Sherfane Rutherford put up yet another solid 79-run partnership and took the score past 200. The Southpaw too had a good day with the bat scoring his first fifty of the series.

Furthermore, Hope finished his innings on 117 after facing 127 deliveries, lacing his innings with eight boundaries and four sixes. Shimron Hetmyer (24), Roston Chase (20*), and Matthew Forde (23*) provided the late flourish and took the total to 328/6.

For England, Adil Rashid and John Turner picked two wickets each along with Jofra Archer and Livingstone also chipping in with a wicket, respectively.

The Three Lions had a decent start to the chase as openers Phil Salt and Will Jacks put up a solid 37-run stand. Though Jacks played a brief knock of 12, his partner Salt continued to smash a 59-run knock in the same number of deliveries. No.3 batter Jordan Cox had an off day on the field, as he walked back after adding just four runs to the tally.

It was the crucial 53-run stand of Jacob Bethell and skipper Livingstone that turned the tide in favour of the English team. Bethell walked back after a well-made 55, which included four boundaries and two sixes. But it was the match-winning partnership of Livingstone and Sam Curran that sealed the game for the side, while the English skipper brought up a century, Curran complemented his senior pro and made a well-made half-century. Their 140-run partnership did the job for the side as they won the game by five wickets with 15 balls to spare. English skipper was awarded the well-deserving Player of the Match award for 124* runs. Meanwhile, the visitors have made a resounding comeback and have levelled the series, with the action next moving to the deciding third ODI on November 6.
