Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) secured their second win of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2025) with a convincing seven-wicket victory over UP Warriorz (UP-W) in the last match of the Vadodara leg, at the Kotambi Stadium, on Wednesday, February 19.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, Delhi Capitals saw a firm start from UP Warriorz opener Kiran Navgire, who smashed 51 off just 27 balls. However, good bowling from Annabel Sutherland (2/26) and Jess Jonassen (1/21) helped DC Women restrict the opposition to 166/7 in 20 overs. Chinelle Henry’s quickfire 33* off 15 balls gave UPW a late flourish, but the total was still within reach for the Capitals.
In response, Delhi Capitals got off to a flying start, thanks to captain Meg Lanning’s brilliance. She anchored the chase with a knock of 69 off 49 balls, keeping the scoreboard ticking. Shafali Verma (26 off 16) provided a quick start before falling to Deepti Sharma, while Jemimah Rodrigues departed cheaply for a duck.
With 48 runs still needed, all-rounder Sutherland (41* off 35) and Marizanne Kapp (29* off 17) took the responsibility, guiding their side home in the penultimate ball of the innings. Their approach ensured there were no further problems, sealing the win with an impressive run rate of 8.42.
The victory marks a strong finish for Delhi Capitals before the WPL action shifts to Bengaluru. With two wins under their belt, Delhi Capitals are second on the points table and will look to carry their momentum forward.

All dropped catches and misfielding from OS players. Each of them contributed. #WPL

Wow. Really should have been a cruise for #DC but they scrape home. Some woeful errors in the field from #UPW sabotaged their own chances. Extraordinary.#Kapp & #Sutherland good, for the victors.#WPL

I'm not even a fan of UP Warriorz, but watching them field is making me angry. What on earth are they doing? #WPL

Delhi Capitals win by 7 wickets. Annabel Sutherland stays not out on 41 runs while Kapp hits the winning runs. Kapp's cameo towards the end was vital for the Capitals following the departure of Lanning. UP Warriorz let down by their fielding #WPL2025 #WPL #DelhiCapitals

Ain't watching any other wpl games than Rcb's. I value my time enough not to watch this clown show. I mean "professional" international cricketers, even overseas cricketers playing like this should be unacceptable. #Wpl https://t.co/MQgVJoz0kM
