The young Musheer Khan, who is just 19 years old, scored a brilliant century in the Duleep Trophy 2024 clash between India A and India B at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday, September 5. India B lost wickets at regular intervals but Musheer kept his composure to grind out a century that he will remember for a very long time.

Shubman Gill won the toss for India A and opted to bowl first, looking to make good use of the moisture on the surface. India B skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran was the first batter to be dismissed as Musheer walked out to the middle. He saw wickets falling from the other end as India B went from 33/0 to 94/7.

Musheer got Navdeep Saini for company and the duo managed to thwart the India A bowlers commendably. The youngster shielded Saini as much as possible in the early goings, farming the strike to stretch India B's innings. Musheer adopted a unique technique to negate the swing from the seamers as he jumped out of his crease every now and then. Against the spinners, he looked quite assured as he played the cuts and sweeps to good effect.

In the first session, he scored just six runs off 52 balls as the seamers ruled the roost. However, he gradually broke the shackles, especially with the spinners in operation. The right-handed batter got to his half-century off 118 balls and garnered rich praise from the commentators for his show of grit and determination.

Musheer Khan grew in confidence as he neared his century. In the 69th over of the innings, he hit off-spinner Tanush Kotian for two sixes to race to 92. Five overs later, he got to the magical three-figure mark off 205 deliveries. This was his third first-class century in just 11 innings.

India B eventually ended the day at 202/7, with Musheer and Saini batting on 105 and 29, respectively. The centurion has hit 10 fours and two sixes in his fighting knock. The duo has formed a partnership of 108 runs off 212 balls and would want to build on it on Day 2.
