Twitter Reactions: New Zealand in spot of bother following brilliant bowling from Bangladesh

Day 4 of the ongoing first Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand saw the hosts tighten their grip on the clash after a sensational performance with the ball in the second innings during the title defence. The day began with Bangladesh still posting a target for the Black Caps to chase down.

Bangladesh began the day with Najmul Hossain and Mushfiqur Rahim on the crease, and Bangladesh had posted 212 runs on the board with the loss of three wickets. Rahim enhanced his knock and ended up scoring 67 runs in 116 deliveries. Furthermore, Hasan Mehidy Miraz played an unbeaten knock of 50 runs in 76 deliveries as well. Through brilliant knocks by the batters, Bangladesh managed to post 338 runs on the board in the second innings.

As for New Zealand, Ajaz Patel was the highest wicket-taker, with four wickets to his name in the second innings. Ish Sodhi took two wickets, with Tim Southee and Glenn Phillips striking once each. Posting a target of 332 runs for the Black Caps, Bangladesh put in a brilliant performance with the ball to close out Day 4. New Zealand opened the innings with opener Tom Latham getting out for a duck.

Furthermore, Devon Conway only managed to score 22 runs in 76 deliveries before he was sent back to the pavilion. Furthermore, Kane Williamson only scored 11 runs in 24 deliveries as well. Daryl Mitchell played a resilient knock and kept the hopes alive for New Zealand throughout the day. The batter finished the day unbeaten with a score of 44 runs in 86 balls.

Bangladesh put forth an excellent display with the ball, and Taijul Islam has been especially impactful, taking four wickets. Furthermore, Shoriful Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Nayeem Hasan took one wicket as well. New Zealand finished day 4 with a score of 113 runs and lost seven wickets in the process. As the final day of the first Test of the series approaches, Bangladesh will be keen on finishing the game on a winning note.
