The second day of the 1st Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka proved to be good for the visiting side. The first day ended after Bangladesh posted 32/2 in reply to Sri Lanka's 280. The home side was in all sorts of trouble in their own backyard, as Sri Lankan bowlers were all over them. At the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, the pacers enjoyed bowling a lot. Bangladesh batters fell like a pack of cards.
Continuing the second day from 32/2, Bangladesh lost two quick wickets in the form of Mominul Haque and Mahmudual Hasal Loy. Litton Das and Taijul Isalm tried their best to take Bangladesh closer to the first-innings total of Sri Lanka. Both of them were the best batters for Bangladesh in the first innings. While Litton scored 25(43), Islam batted well and posted 47 runs in 80 balls. It led to a momentary recovery of the hosts.
Bangladesh witnessed a second collapse after the dismissal of Litton. From 124/5 at one stage, the home side was undone for a total of just 188 runs. The lower order did add some handy runs. The likes of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Khaled Ahmed, Nahid Rana, and Shoriful Islam all added some valuable runs. However, it was not enough to get closer to the first-innings total of Sri Lanka. As a result, Bangladesh handed a lead of 92 runs for Sri Lanka.
Bowlers lead Bangladesh's fightback in the Test
The Sri Lankan pace trio of Vishwa Fernando, Kasun Rajitha, and Lahiru Kumara were brilliant with the ball for the visiting side. The pace trio dominated the host side with their brilliant spells. While Fernando claimed 4/48, Rajitha and Kumara claimed 3/56 and 3/31 respectively. They made the best use of the seaming wicket, which was one of its kind for a Test match in Bangladesh.
The hosts realized the nature of the wicket and attacked with the pacers. It was rewarding for them as Nahid Rana claimed two wickets. Shoriful claimed the big wicket of Dimuth Karunaratne who scored 52(101). The spinners of Bangladesh made an impact towards the end of the day, as Taijul and Mehidy claimed a wicket each. Sri Lanka ended the day with a score of 119/5 in the second innings. They lead by 211 runs at the moment.

Day 2 stumps: SL lead by 211 with 5 wkts left in their 2nd inns. Hard to see how SL will let this position slip.

Bd bowlers tried their best again but woeful batting let’s them down again.#BANvSL
They seriously need to teach Vishwa Fernando to how to defend a bowl & duck under a bouncer. He looks clueless tbh. He's gonna hurt himself pretty badly with that technique #BANvSL
