Twitter Reactions: Pakistan prevail over Bangladesh in Kolkata to end four-match losing streak
Pakistan beat Bangladesh by seven wickets in Match 31 of the ODI World Cup 2023 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Pakistan finally returned on the winning track in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as they beat Bangladesh by seven wickets on Tuesday, October 31 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. After opting to bat first, Bangladesh were bundled out for just 204 in 45.1 overs as Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr picked three wickets each.
In reply, Pakistan chased down the target in just 32.2 overs to end their four consecutive losses' streak in the ongoing tournament. Their chase got off to a terrific start as openers Abdullah Shafique (68 off 69) and Fakhar Zaman (81 off 74) added 128 runs for the first wicket off 127 balls. Following their dismissals, Mohammad Rizwan (26* off 21) and Iftikhar Ahmed (17* off 15) saw their side home with an unbeaten 36-run stand.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh got off to the worst possible start as Shaheen Afridi dismissed opener Tanzid Hasan (0 off 5) for a duck in the first over itself. He further got rid of Najmul Hossain Shanto in his second over, getting him caught at short mid-wicket. Bangladesh were left in all sorts of trouble as Mushfiqur Rahim (5 off 8) was also dismissed by Haris Rauf, leaving his side on 23/3 after six overs.
Pakistan climb to the fifth spot on the points table
Following their early dismissals, Litton Das (45 off 64), Mahmudullah (56 off 70) and Shakib Al Hasan (43 off 64) played crucial knocks to keep their side in the game. However, Pakistan seamers ran through their batting order and bundled them for 204. Shaheen Afridi (3/23, 9 overs) and Mohammad Wasim Jr (3/31, 8.1 overs) picked up three wickets each while Haris Rauf (2/36, 8 overs) also picked two wickets.
Meanwhile, courtesy of their win, Pakistan climbed to the fifth spot on the points table with three wins from seven matches having six points to their name. On the other hand, Bangladesh remained on the second-last (ninth) spot with just one win from seven games.
