English all-rounder, Sam Curran, will be reconvening with the Chennai Super Kings after he was purchased on Day 2 of the mega auction for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League. Curran was a part of the CSK roster for the 2020 and 2021 editions of the cash-rich league.

Curran missed the 2022 season due to a back injury, but soon returned as the most-expensive bid in the subsequent edition. He was bagged by the Punjab Kings for a then-record INR 18.50 crore. Curran was a regular feature for PBKS on his return to the franchise.

As far as the ongoing event in Jeddah is concerned, there was radio silence for Curran before CSK started off proceedings. Jumping into the fray were the Lucknow Super Giants. However, they backed out of the process after their sole bid. This essentially meant Curran was bought back by CSK as a bargain buy.

One department in which the iconic franchise was lacking in the past few seasons was a finisher in their arsenal. Although the younger Curran has been off-colour in the recent 20-over games, his potential has been there to see in the past - both with bat and ball.
