Twitter Reactions: Scott Boland, Pat Cummins trigger batting collapse for India at SCG on Day 3

India had a forgettable start to Day 3 as they lost their last four wickets for just 16 runs in the fifth and final Test match in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Sunday, January 5.

The tourists started the day at 141/6, with a lead of 145 runs. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar were the overnight batters who started proceedings. The former was dismissed in the third over of the day by Australian captain Pat Cummins. He bowled a delivery that shaped away late and took the outside edge before nestling into the gloves of Alex Carey.

A few overs later, Sundar perished as Pat Cummins got in on the act once again. The right-arm seamer targeted the stumps, bowling a ball that angled in massively and went between Sundar's bat and pad as he was looking to defend.

The onus was on the tail-enders to add some crucial runs and extend India's lead as much as possible. However, Scott Boland came to the party and took the wickets of Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah to wrap up the Indian innings. Boland picked up Siraj's wicket by bowling in the channel outside off-stump. The Hyderabad pacer poked at the delivery and the outside edge went through to Usman Khawaja in the slip cordon.

Meanwhile, Bumrah was the last Indian batter to be dismissed. He went for a wild slog but missed the line of the ball completely and was out clean bowled. India were shot out for just 157 in 39.5 overs. They took a second-innings lead of 161.

Boland finished with excellent figures of 6/45 in 16.5 overs. He received great support from Cummins, who ended with a three-for. Meanwhile, Beau Webster also chipped in with the solitary wicket of Shubman Gill on Day 2.
