Popular T20 women's franchise Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) prevailed against Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) by nine wickets in Match 14 of the Women's Premier League 2025 clash. Notably, the fixture took place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, on Saturday, March 1.
Being put in to bat first, Bengaluru did not quite get to a positive start with skipper, Smriti Mandhana, getting dismissed in the second over itself. Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Ellyse Perry stitched a crucial 44-run stand for the second wicket. Raghvi Bist joined Perry in the middle after the fall of Wyatt-Hodge. The former anchored the innings. However, she could not build on her knock, getting dismissed for 33 off 32.
Perry delivered a solo masterclass yet again. She ended the innings on an unbeaten 60* off 47 deliveries. The middle-order batters after Bist of the hosts could only score a couple of boundaries among them off a total of 16 deliveries. Bengaluru ended up on 147/5, with Shree Charani impressing on WPL debut, yielding figures of 2/28 in four overs.
Coming to the run-chase, the home team were on top for the first half of the powerplay. The dismissal of a struggling Meg Lanning for 2 (12) made it seem that Bengaluru were right in the game. However, the next three overs of the powerplay belonged to the tourists, who ended up scoring 36. Shafali Verma had raced on to 27 by the end of the first six.
It was all about the top-order batting of Shafali and Jess Jonassen from that juncture. Their smart running between the wickets and frequent boundary-hitting took the game out of Bengaluru's reach. The two batters ended up chasing the target with 4.3 overs to spare, ending up on 80* (43) and 61* (38), respectively. This was Delhi's fifth victory in seven games this season.
