The first Test between Bangladesh and South Africa concluded on the first session of Day 4. Trailing the lead of 202 runs provided by the visitors, Bangladesh managed to offer them a target of just 106 runs. If not for Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Jaker Ali’s 138-run stand for the seventh wicket, the host could have succumbed in their process of clearing the deficit.
South Africa took no excess effort to do something out of their character. Their batters had two days to chase a mere 106 runs and they needed just the first session of the penultimate day. Tony de Zorzi and Aiden Markram departed scoring 41 and 20, respectively as South Africa’s scorecard read 71 after the latter’s wicket.

David Bedingham followed suit scoring 12 runs as Tristan Stubbs and Ryan Rickelton ensured there were no further hick-ups. The duo remained unbeaten as Stubbs led the charge with 30 runs. South Africa unleashed their first Test victory in Asia since 2014 with this emphatic win. Speaking of Bangladesh, their bowlers tried hard to contain almost inevitable.
It was a really good toss to lose: Aiden Markram
Bangladesh’s premium spinner, Taijul Ismal snared all three wickets of the Proteas on Day 4. It is worth noting that he picked up eight wickets in the game. But South Africa were provided with a solid base by their wicketkeeper-batter’s 114-run knock in the first innings and some lethal bowling. Both teams will play in the final Test of the series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram from October 29.

"Really good performance, incredibly tough for the team to put four days of good performance here. The bowlers stepped up and some really good partnerships with the bat to help us get a good lead. Credit to Bangladesh as well, they batted well and put up a good total. It was a really good toss to lose, we would have batted as well. The bowlers bowled really well and did the job for us," said South Africa captain, Markram after the game.

A convincing win by the Proteas as they win their first test in the subcontinent in more than a decade. Worldclass performance by Rabada who took 9 of the 20 wickets, backed up well by a brilliant century from Verreynne and a very good performance by Mulder #Proteas #BANvSA

Back to at least a semi-hiatus but proud of @ProteasMenCSA. It has been 10 long years since a victory in the subcontinent. Just the right positive approach in the chase as well #BANvSA #CricketTwitter
