Bangladesh and Sri Lanka kicked off the second Test of their ongoing series in brilliant fashion. Both sides took centre stage at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram from March 30.
Sri Lanka came into the clash after winning the first Test of the series. The visitors managed to topple Bangladesh in Sylhet and register a dominant win. After posting totals of 280 and 418 runs across the two innings and limiting the hosts to scores of 188 and 182 runs, Sri Lanka managed to register a 328-run victory in the first Test.
As the second Test rolled around, where Bangladesh aimed to improve and put in a better performance, Sri Lanka would be hoping for a similar showing as the first clash and clinching the series by winning the ongoing game as well.
The clash began with Sri Lanka batting first after winning the toss. The side opened with Nishan Madushka and Dimuth Karunaratne scoring 57 and 86 runs, respectively. Kusal Mendis further piled on the pressure with a knock of 93 runs in 150 deliveries. Furthermore, Angelo Mathews added 23 runs to the board as well.
Putting in a magnificent performance with the bat, Sri Lanka managed to post a total of 314 runs on the board with the loss of four wickets as Day 1 of the clash ended.
As for Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud was the highest wicket-taker, with two wickets to his name. Shakib Al Hasan struck once as well. The day ended with Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal and skipper Dhananjaya de Silva on the strike on a score of 34* and 15* runs respectively.

Bangladesh take the DRS to review for LBW. Costly decision to review as the batter was down the track and even if there was impact on the pad the distance would have saved him. Ball tracking showed that the ball was met by the full face of the bat. #BANvSL #Bangladesh #SLvsBAN… pic.twitter.com/J8XlrqrMDJ
