Sunrisers Eastern Cape continued their winning run in the SA20 2024 as they beat Durban Super Giants by five wickets in Match 12 on Saturday, January 20 at Kingsmead, Durban. After opting to bat first, Durban posted a score of 159/7 in their allotted 20 overs courtesy of a brilliant half century from Wiaan Mulder (52 off 29). In reply, Eastern Cape chased down the target in 19.2 overs with a splendid half century from Tristan Stubbs (66 off 37).
Opting to bat first, Durban didn’t get off to a good start as Quinton de Kock (7 off 8) was dismissed cheaply by Daniel Worrall in the second over. His opening partner Matthew Breetzke (35 off 24) looked in good touch as he raced to 35 off 24 balls but his innings was cut short by Simon Harmer who trapped him in front of the stumps.

Heinrich Klaasen also made a good contribution of 31 (17) while Simon Harmer (4/18) was the pick of the bowlers for Sunrisers.
In the second innings, they lost their opener Dawid Malan (2 off 8) in the third over itself while Tom Abell (1 off 1) got involved in an unfortunate run out to leave his side on 19/2 after 4.2 overs. Jordan Herman (25 off 26) also failed to get going leaving his side on 41/3 after 7.2 overs.
