Twitter Reactions: Sunil Narine takes life out of RCB with 22-ball 47 in Bengaluru
When KKR came out to chase, they promoted their pinch hitter Sunil Narine up the order and he opened the innings.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced off in Match 10 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday. KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first. Their bowlers did a commendable in restricting the run flow in the middle overs, however, RCB managed to post a respectable 182 runs on the board. When KKR came out to chase, they sent their pinch hitter Sunil Narine up the order and he opened the innings alongside Phil Salt.
Narine was off the mark from the word 'go'. Before the innings started, there were talks of the pitch getting slowed from the commentators, and the Bengaluru bowlers refrained from taking pace off the ball. The Caribbean all-rounder commenced his innings with a slap through mid-off, as Yash Dayal could not alter his trajectory. He then took Alzarri Joseph to the cleaners with two consecutive sixes in an over.

Siraj bowling the fifth over of the innings tried a slower delivery on the fifth ball, but Narine was settled and anticipated the same as he smashed him for a six. The icing on the cake moment came as Dayal was once again on the opener's radar and was entrusted by Faf du Plessis to bowl the final over of the powerplay.
Narine garners 20 runs off Yash Dayal’s over
Dayal was hit for a four on the first ball the veteran KKR spinner was facing against him in the over. He then dispatched the next ball for a six to deep mid-wicket. He punished another loose ball from him for a six. The fifth ball of the over was a mistimed flick from the batter and rushed toward the fine-leg fence.
After fetching 20 runs from the last five balls he played, he looked decisive in the middle of the jam packed Chinnaswamy. However, to hosts' respite, Mayank Dagar was introduced into the attack. The RCB spinner did not let the veteran all-rounder open his arms as he kept the line tight. The very next ball, Dagar bowled a yorker and the part-time batter did not bring his bat to the ground as he was bowled after scoring 47 off 22.
