On day five of the ongoing first Test, Bangladesh began by needing three more wickets to secure a historic win. Overnight batters Daryl Mitchell and Ish Sodhi came in to bat. Nayeem Hasan dismissed Mitchell, dashing any last hopes for the Kiwis.
Captain Tim Southee then showed aggressive intent, scoring a quickfire 34 off 24 with one four and two big sixes, forming a good partnership with Sodhi. However, it was more of a formality, as Bangladesh only needed two good balls to wrap up the innings and make history.
In red-hot form, Taijul cleaned up the Kiwi innings. First, he dismissed Southee as the captain attempted a pull shot but found Zakir Hasan, losing his wicket. Then Taijul removed the last man, Sodhi, securing his ten-wicket haul in the match and helping Bangladesh make history by defeating the Kiwis for the first time in Test cricket.
Both teams are now set to face each other in the second match of the series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, starting on December 6. New Zealand aim to level the series at 1-1, while the spirited Bangladesh team, brimming with confidence, look to create another historic moment by clinching the series

What a Captain.
Captain Shanto should take the maximum applauds for the win. His mentality, attacking field setup, bowler rotation was nothing short of perfect. Exciting times ahead under his Captaincy. #BANvsNZ pic.twitter.com/VsjlSW5mNq
