Twitter Reactions: West Indies chase down mammoth target to register first win of the series

The West Indies defeated England by five wickets.

The West Indies and England continued their ongoing five-game T20I series by facing off in the fourth T20I. Both sides locked horns at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia, on Saturday, November 16. The series had already been clinched by England coming into the game, but the side hoped for a clean sweep.

The fourth T20I of the series began with England coming in to bat first after losing the toss. The side opened the innings with Phil Salt and Will Jacks scoring 55 and 25 runs, respectively. Skipper Jos Buttler added 38 runs on the board, with Jacob Bethell staying unbeaten on a score of 62 runs in 32 deliveries.  

England managed to post a total of 218 runs in the first innings and lost five wickets in the process. As for the West Indies, Gudakesh Motie was the highest wicket-taker with two wickets to his name. Alzarri Joseph and Roston Chase took one wicket each as well. 

Windies opener finish job for hosts

Aiming to chase down a target of 219 runs in the second innings, the West Indies opened their innings with Evin Lewis and Shai Hope scoring 68 and 54 runs, respectively. After the good start, star batter Nicholas Pooran departed for a duck, with skipper Rovman Powell scoring 38 runs in 23 deliveries. 

Furthermore, Sherfane Rutherford played an unbeaten knock of 29 runs as the Windies chased down the target in 19 overs and won the game by five wickets. As for England, Rehan Ahmed was the highest wicket-taker with three wickets to his name. John Turner took one wicket as well. 

Winning the game, the West Indies have managed to register their first win of the series, and they will hope for another consolation win in the fifth T20I of the series.
