Among the 29 Australians on the auction block, Ellyse Perry was one of the high-profile names to watch out for. Perry placed herself in the highest bracket with a reserve price of INR 50 Lakh in the auction. The seasoned all-rounder has established herself as a quintessential team-player and it was no surprise that the franchises such as Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore immediately began raising their paddles for the Aussie star.

After steady raising of the paddles by the franchises, Bangalore eventually procured the services of Perry ahead of the first season of the WPL. With the plethora of experience she boasts coupled with immense leadership skills, surely the franchise has acquired a great pick in the bidding arena.

Ellyse Perry attains historic feat in T20Is

It is worth mentioning that the star all-rounder attained a magnificent feat in the T20Is as she became the first Australian to score over 1500 runs and pick up 100 plus wickets in the format. This came after the 32-year-old right-hander scored a quick 40 from 22 balls against New Zealand in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa.

Adding to this, Perry has also led the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) franchise - Sydney Sixers to back-to-back titles in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 season. Undoubtedly, the deadly duo of Perry and star India cricketer Smriti Mandhana will take the crowds in Mumbai by storm when they take the field ahead of the inaugural edition of the WPL.

As many as 246 Indians are part of the auction whereas 163 players are from the overseas nations, of which eight players belong to the associate nations. The competition is scheduled to be played between March 4 and March 26 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
