Women's Ashes 2025: Australia register second straight in T20I leg

Australia women continued the ongoing Women’s Ashes 2025 by taking on England in the second T20I of the series. Both sides locked horns at the Manuka Oval, Canberra on Thursday, January 23. The clash began with Australia Women coming in to bat first.
The side opened their innings with Beth Mooney and Georgia Voll scoring 44 and five runs, respectively. Phoebe Litchfield added 17 runs on the board, alongside Ellyse Perry who departed for just two runs as well. After the top-order’s subpar performances, Annabel Sutherland scored 18 runs in 11 deliveries as well.
Skipper Tahlia McGrath and Grace Harris added 48 and 35 runs, respectively as Australia women posted a total of 185 runs in the first innings. As for England women, Charlie Dean was the highest wicket taker for England with two wickets to her name. Freya Kemp and Sophie Ecclestone took one wicket each as well.
DLS sees Aussies home
Coming out to bat, aiming to chase down a target of 186 runs, England women opened the innings with Maia Bouchier and Danni Wyatt-Hodge scoring 13 and 52 runs, respectively. Sophia Dunkley and Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 32 and 22 runs, respectively as well.
Furthermore, skipper Heather Knight went unbeaten on a score of 43 runs in 19 deliveries. With rain playing spoilsport, England women had gotten a revised target of 175 runs to chase down. However, the visitors only managed to score 168 runs as Australia women won the game by six runs through the DLS method. Both sides will lock horns in the third T20I of the series at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday, January 25.
