Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCB-W) stormed their way into the knockouts of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 after hammering Mumbai Indians (MI-W) Women by seven wickets in Match 19 on Tuesday, March 12 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. After being put in to bat first, Mumbai were bundled out for 115 in 19 overs as Ellyse Perry ran through their batting order with her six-wicket haul.
In reply, Royal Challengers Bangalore chased down the target in 15 overs despite being 39/3 at one stage as the ‘Perry Magic’ continued to sweep over Mumbai. The right-handed batter played a crucial knock of 40* and was well supported by Richa Ghosh (36* off 28) as the duo took their team over the line.

1. Ellyse Perry register best bowling figures of WPL history
The right-arm seamer dismissed the well-set Sajeevan Sajana (30 off 21) and the dangerous Harmanpreet Kaur (0 off 1) off consecutive deliveries in her second over. There was no hiding for MI batters as Amelia Kerr (2 off 5), Amanjot Kaur (4 off 2), Pooja Vastrakar (6 off 10) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (10 off 15) were blown away by Perry Storm.
As a result, the right-arm seamer registered figures of 6/15 in four overs and etched her name in record books for the best bowling figures in WPL history leaving behind Marizanne Kapp’s 5/15 in the first season.

2. Mumbai fightback with the ball
The defending champions came out determined to give RCB a run for their money as Hayley Matthews got Sophie Molineux stumped in the fourth over. Nat Sciver-Brunt also joined the party making captain Smriti Mandhana edge one to the wicketkeeper Priyanka Bala. Speedster Shabnim Ismail shattered the stumps of Sophie Devine (4 off 2) to leave RCB in all sorts of trouble at 39/3.

3. Perry Show continues with the bat as well
Coming in to bat with her team on 22/1, Perry was running out of partners as RCB were quickly reduced to 39/3. However, she was unfazed by the situation and built a 76-run stand for the fourth wicket off 53 balls with Richa Ghosh as the duo bailed RCB out of trouble. Perry remained unbeaten on 40* off 38 with the help of five fours and a six.
