WPL 2024 Match 5 Highlights: Royal Challengers Bangalore Women vs Gujarat Giants Women Recap
Royal Challengers Bangalore registered their second consecutive win of WPL 2024 as they beat Gujarat Giants by 8 wickets.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Women continued their brilliant start to the Women’s Premier League 2024 with an eight-wicket win over Gujarat Giants in Match 5 on Tuesday, February 27 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. After being put in to bat first, Gujarat were restricted to 107/7 in their allotted 20 overs as Renuka Singh Thakur and Sophie Molineux gave no respite with their sensational spells.
Only Dayalan Hemalatha put up a fight against Bangalore with her knock of 31* (25) clobbering two fours and a six. In reply, the hosts chased down the target in just 12.3 overs with captain Smriti Mandhana leading from the front. Sabbhineni Meghana (36* off 28) and Ellyse Perry (23* off 14) also made valuable contributions as RCB registered their second consecutive win of the season to climb to the top of the points table with four points to their name.

1. Renuka Singh gets RCB off to a great start
The right-arm seamer bowled a magnificent with the new ball as she accounted for two early wickets for her side. Renuka first shattered the stumps of Gujarat captain Beth Mooney (8 off 7) to get the first strike for RCB and later dismissed Phoebe Litchfield (5 off 12) to register figures of 2/14 in four overs.
2. Sophie Molineux spins a web around Gujarat
The left-arm spinner continued to pile pressure on Gujarat in the middle overs as she picked three crucial wickets. Molineux got rid of Veda Krishnamurthy (9 off 15), Kathryn Bryce (3 off 6) and Sneh Rana (12 off 10) to register figures of 3/25 in four overs.
3. Smriti Mandhana comes out all guns blazing
The Royal Challengers Bangalore captain came out with a clear intent to finish the game early as she took on the Gujarat bowlers right from the word go. The southpaw registered her highest score in WPL history scoring 43 (27) with the help of eight fours and a six to get her team off to a blistering start.
