Twitter Reactions: Cricketers wish Ishant Sharma on his birthday
Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma turns 29 today.
Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma celebrates his 29th birthday today. Sharma has played 77 Test matches so far for India and picked up 218 wickets at an average of 36.93. He has seven 5-wicket hauls to his name in Test cricket. Sharma was a part of India’s squad for the Test series in Sri Lanka, but he didn’t feature in any of the matches. He only played the tour game against Sri Lanka President’s XI.
The Delhi pacer made a quick impression during the Test series down under against Australia in the year 2008, where he set up Ricky Ponting at Perth. Sharma bowled an outstanding spell to Ponting and in the end picked his wicket, which is still a prized memory. The lanky cricketer is one of the few fast bowlers in India who have kept their focus on Tests.
A match-winner for India
The right-arm pacer has 115 wickets in ODIs from 80 games, at an average of 30.98. Ishant made his international debut against Bangladesh in the Test series in the year 2007 and soon went on to play in coloured clothing against South Africa at Belfast.
He has played for Kings XI Punjab, Rising Pune Supergiants, Deccan Chargers, Kolkata Knight Riders and SunRisers Hyderabad in the IPL. The 29-year-old has 88 wickets in 113 T20 games. The fast bowler’s aggression and pace is the key to his success, even though he has been one of the slowest bowlers to reach the 200 wicket mark in Tests, Ishant has played a key role in numerous matches, and bowled India to win. On his birthday, the tall and lean seamer received warm wishes from his fans and mates.
Known as ‘Lambu’ among his teammates, Sharma was one of the most trending cricketers during the Test series against Australia, earlier this year. He mocked and sledged the visiting Australian team and was successful in getting under their skin.
