Till yesterday, the medal wait at the Rio Olympics kept getting longer for India. However, within a day, India have got it’s first two gems who have lifted the spirits of the entire nation.
While Sakshi Malik won the bronze medal in the Women’s Freestyle 58 kg category with a spirited comeback victory over Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzsta. It was PV Sindhu later in the day who reached the finals of the singles in Badminton, thus guaranteeing a medal for the event.
She defeated Japan’s sixth ranked Nozomi Okuhara with an amazing victory of 21-19, 21-10 to seal a spot in the finals. She will now take on 2 time World Champion and top seed Carolina Marin of Spain in the summit clash on Friday.
The immensely talented Hyderabadi girl has taken the medal tally for Badminton a level further after her senior Saina Nehwal got India a bronze medal in the London Olympics 2012.
