After consecutive failures, David Warner finally came into his own in the game against the Rangpur Riders. The former Australian vice-captain seemed to be in great touch in the contest and played a critical role in handing over the Sylhet Sixers a win. With a comprehensive victory, his boys made up for the embarrassing defeat in their last encounter against the Comilla Victorians.
Along with Warner, Liton Das also fired up for the team helping add two crucial points to the tally. With a massive win of 27 runs, the Sixers finally ditched the last spot on the points table and raised up the ranks. The Rangpur Riders though lost their fourth game in the tournament out of six. It will be quite an uphill task for them to break into the top-four from here.
David Warner lights up Sylhet with his hitting
David Warner lost the toss and thus his side was put into bat first. For this game, the Australian changed the opening combination in order to strengthen the middle-order. Liton Das, who opened the innings with Sabbir Rahman added 73 runs for the opening wicket. After Sabbir fell for 20 runs, Warner joined him and played a terrific inning.
Das scored 70 off 43 balls to provide the side with a good start before he was dismissed. Warner then took over, mixed caution with aggression and pulled off a great knock. The left-hander smashed his second fifty of the tournament and was unbeaten on 61 off just 36 deliveries. Nicholas Pooran stretched the first innings score to 187/5 in 20 overs with a 16-ball 26 towards the end.
The Sixers survive the Rossouw scare
The Sylhet Sixers had a great start to the second innings. They got the Rangpur Riders down to 11/3 very early in the innings with Chris Gayle, Mehedi Maruf and Alex Hales – all returning back to the pavilion with single-digit scores. But, Rilee Rossouw then combined forces with Mohammad Mithun. While the wicket-keeper played the anchor in the partnership, Rossouw took the complete charge.
With 58 from just 32 balls, he looked like taking the game away from the Sixers. But, Taskin Ahmed dismissed both these batsmen in quick successions to get the Sixers back into the contest. From there on, the Riders really struggled to get back into the game. With not much firepower left in the batting order, they could only manage to put 160 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets.
Twitterati was relieved to see the Sylhet Sixers win their second game of the tournament. The fans were in awe of David Warner who even batted right-handed in the game. There was also pretty of appreciation for Liton Das and the bowlers for the good show. Rilee Rossouw also found a mention in the discussions after that fiery innings.
Here is how Twitterati reacted:

David Warner batting right handed against Chris Gayle is a legitimate action, unlike the switch hit, because the bowler knows he is bowling to a right hander from the beginning. It is difficult but fair. The switch hit is difficult too but unfair to the bowler.

Top 5 run scorer in the BPL so far:-
👇
👉 Rilee Rossouw – 288 Runs (RR)
👉 Nicolas pooran – 191 Runs (SS)
👉 Hazratullah zazai – 146 Runs (DD)
👉 David Warner – 141 Runs (SS)
👉 Mushfiqur Rahim – 139 Runs (CHV)#BPL2019 #BPLT20 #Season6— We Are Bangladesh Cricket Supporters (@loveBDcricket) January 17, 2019
David Warner batting right handed and smacking it might be a great story, but if we're being honest it doesn't really speak too highly of the BPL.
If he did that in the IPL, he'd be slated for disrespect. Possibly benched.

Banned Aussies opener David Warner in the Bangladesh Premier League switched his stance to a righthander midway through the 19th over to smash Gayle for a six & 2 fours to lift his team Sylhet Sixers from bottom place in the win against Rangpur Riders. Warner with a difference.

David Warner, a skilled professional sportsman changes hands to hit a cricket ball delivered by Chris Gale in the sport he's trained in for years and gets paid to do and everyone loses their shit? Calm down. I switch hands holding a microphone during jokes, not a single tweet!

In case you're wondering what David Warner has been doing with his "time off", it appears he's been learning to bat right-handed…. pic.twitter.com/9PhBHXHB9i
