Twitter Reactions: David Warner cruises to his 21st Test century
David Warner entered the record books of greats with his 21st century
David Warner was on a song during the opening session of the Boxing Day Test (Ashes). His form recently has been worrying for Australia. His recent scores in the first two Tests were not as pleasing as his captains. However, for a player like Warner, they just need one good inning to get back to their best.
Warner’s opening session was outstandingly good. He outclassed the England bowlers and also his partner Bancroft. He was looking like a man who is in the form of his life. England leaked runs in the first session, most of the damage was done by Warner. Australia scored 102 in the first session. Out of those, 83 were scored by David Warner, that’s how much he had scored in his last three innings combined.
When Warner is on the field, either his bat talks or his mouth. Today it was the turn of his bat to do the talking and it was talking like never before. He raced into the nineties but then England played on his mind as nerves were getting better of Warner. The southpaw was stuck in his nineties for 19 deliveries as Joe Root brought in all the fielders.
Root played the final card by bringing back Tim Curran; the debutant. Curran was bowling with full energy and got one to bounce extra which caught Warner by surprise and he was caught. However, Curran was out of luck as he bowled a no-ball. The very next ball was flicked away and Warner went past 100.
David Warner entered the record books of greats with his 21st century. He became the fastest Australian opener to get to 21 centuries. He joined hands with Matthew Hayden with 126 innings. The fastest opener is Sunil Gavaskar who brought up his 21 centuries in just 97 innings. That said, Warner’s century marked a fantastic start for Australia and that gave Twitter a reason to erupt.
Everyone went berserk after Warner reached his century.
