Twitter Reactions: Dhaka Dynamites crowned BPL champions 2016

In the final showdown of the Bangladesh Premier League 2016, Dhaka Dynamites came face to face with the Rajshahi Kings. The Dhaka crowd witnessed an entertaining encounter though the match was quite one sided. Dhaka Dynamites went on to become the champions of this year’s BPL.

Earlier in the day, it was Darren Sammy who won the toss as the Rajshahi Kings elected to field first. Evin Lewis began things in style for the Dhaka Dynamites. While wickets kept tumbling at the other end, he made sure that the runs kept flowing.

Once he got out, Sangakkara took charge and made a crucial 36(33) to take Dhaka to a respectable total. Shakib Al Hasan who came to bat at no.8 couldn’t keep things going. In the end, Sunzamul Islam played a handy cameo to take Dhaka Dynamites to 159/9 in their quota of 20 overs.

Chasing 160 to win, the Rajshahi Kings were off to a splendid start after an early wicket. Just when it seemed Mominul Haque and Sabbir Rahman were set at the crease, Mehedi Maruf effected a wonderful run out to break the partnership as Rahman returned back to the dugout.

Rajshahi Kings never recovered from the breakthrough as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The likes of Sammy and Franklin too failed on the big day as the Rajshahi Kings were bundled for a paltry 103 runs, handing a one-sided victory of 56 runs to the Dhaka Dynamites.

Abu Jayed, Shakib and Islam got a couple of wickets each while Russell also managed to get one wicket. Overall it was a splendid all-round performance by Dhaka, especially the bowling and fielding department as they became the BPL champions.
