The critics around the cricket fraternity were accusing the Nidahas Trophy for being a boring tournament. Well, the finals of the tournament proved to be the most thrilling game played in the recent times in the shortest format of the game. It is not an everyday story to see a six being hit on the last ball to seal the fate of the game. Dinesh Karthik did exactly that to win the title for team India.
Team India needed 34 runs to win off the final two overs and Dinesh Karthik was the new man at the crease. Very few gave the Men in Blue a snigg in the series. However, DK had some other plans. The veteran superstar milked Rubel Hossain for 22 runs in the penultimate over of the chase.
And in the final over, he slaughtered Soumya Sarkar as well. With 5 needed off the last delivery, the pressure was on DK. He, however, remained calm and then clubbed one in to the stands to singlehandedly win the series for his side.
Earlier in the game, it was the Indian captain Rohit Sharma who had invited the Bangladesh side to bat first. Indian spinners struck early to send the Bangladeshi openers cheaply. Yuzvendra Chahal, in particular, was a tough cookie for the Bangladeshi. The triple strike from Chahal left the Bangladesh batsmen guessing for long.
It was Sabbir Rahman who then took the counter attack to help his side get back in to the game. Sabbir scored a crucial 77 to take Bangladesh to 166 in their stipulated 20 overs. In the run chase, team India kept losing wickets at regular intervals. It was Rohit Sharma who kept the chase on track with an anchoring knock from one end.
His departure exposed the inexperience Indian lower middle-order that had been untested in the series. A brilliant over from Mustafizur in the 18th over of the game pushed the game away from team India. But Dinesh Karthik knew he had a story to write for himself. His unbeaten 29 off 8 deliveries sealed the match and the series for the Indian team.

Bangladesh were in the game for a long time when nobody expected them to and then @Mustafiz90 bowled that superb 18th over. The last two overs though, didn't go to plan, particularly Rubel. I thought it was asking too much of Soumya Sarkar to bowl a high-pressure last over.

Dinesh Karthik made his debut before Dhoni. But he is still only 32 and batting better than ever before. Could well be a wonderful second wind for him if he can keep his form from the last 2 years
