Twitter Reactions: Disciplined Pakistan seal the ODI series against West Indies
Pakistan won the second ODI match by 120 runs.
The home team Pakistan completed another easy victory over the visitors West Indies during the second ODI match played at the Multan Cricket Stadium on June 10 (Friday). The left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz was adjudged player of the match for his excellent performance with the ball.
Pakistan after winning the toss opted to have a bat first. Their openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq gave a decent start to Men in Green. However, Zaman (17 runs) was scalped soon. Skipper Babar Azam then joined Imam and stitched an excellent 100+ run partnership for the second wicket.
However, a miscommunication between the two batters resulted in Imam getting run out after scoring a well-made 72 runs. Skipper Babar (77 runs) was also soon scalped by spinner Akeal Hosein. After the fall of Babar, a mini-collapse followed. Every Pakistani batter including Mohammad Rizwan (15 runs), Mohammad Haris (6 runs), Khushdil Shah (22 runs), and Shadab Khan (22 runs) got a start with the bat, but could not manage to stick on the wicket for long. For Men in Maroon, Hosein was the pick of the bowlers scalping three wickets.
Pakistan scored 275 runs in their allotted 50 overs
In reply, West Indies had a poor start with their star batter Shai Hope getting out after scoring just four runs. Kyle Mayers and Sharmarh Brooks then stitched a 67-run partnership before Mohammad Wasim cleaned up Mayers on 33 runs. Batter Brandon King could not even open his account and was scalped by Nawaz. Skipper Nicholas Pooran (25 runs) and Brooks (42 runs) did try their best for the visitors, but both of them were sent back to the pavilion by Nawaz.
None of the other West Indies batters looked comfortable on the wicket as the visitors were restricted to just 155/10 in 32.2 overs thanks to some disciplined bowling performance from Men in Green. Nawaz scalped four wickets for his team, whereas another spinner Shadab Khan got two wickets. Pacer Wasim (three wickets) and Shaheen Afridi (one wicket) also registered themselves in the wicket column. As a result, the Men in Green won the contest by 120 runs.
