Twitter Reactions: Dominant England steamroll Australia in Nottingham
England clinch the 5-match ODI series 3-0.

The visiting team Australia never lived up to expectations in the ongoing One Day International series against England. Three back to back disappointment results led in the series defeat for Aussies with two more games to go in the series. The hosts thumped the visitors by 242 runs in what was a must-win game for the Australians.
Coming to the toss, Tim Paine opted to field first on a flat track, the very first step where Aussies went wrong. England openers dominated the Aussie bowlers right from the very first ball to put up a 159-run stand before Jason Roy lost his wicket via run-out for 61-ball 82 runs. However, the other opener Jonny Bairstow continued to send the bowlers to all over the park with his explosive hitting skills.
Bairstow went on to register his sixth ton, four of them coming in the last six ODI innings – all of them at a strike-rate above 100. The no. 3 batsman Alex Hales also continued the decimate the opposition bowlers right from the first ball. Hales registered a 92-ball 147-run knock before getting out to Jhye Richardson. Eoin Morgan also pitched in by registering the fastest ever ODI half-century off just 21 balls. England posted a total of 481/6 in 50 overs – the highest ever in ODI history.
With 482 runs to win the game, Australian openers occupied the crease, only to lose their struggling opener, D’Arcy Short in the third over off David Willey for just 15 runs. Travis Head and Shaun Marsh looked settled but that was the time when the visitors lost Head for 51 runs off Moeen Ali. He picked two quick wickets to keep Aussies on further back foot. The under-performing Aaron Finch conceded his wicket to Adil Rashid for 20 runs.
With runrate mounting up, Aussie never looked in the chase as they lost wickets in regular intervals. Adil Rashid chipped in with four quick wickets. David Willey picked up two important wickets. Eventually, England won the game by 242 runs, their biggest victory in terms of runs in ODIs.

A whirlwind of an innings from England to score close to 500 runs in a 50 over game. Looked more like an extended T20 match. feel sorry for th bowlers . #ENGvAUS

That is Australia's heaviest ever defeat in ODIs. Worst ranking since 1984. They have lost 13 of their last 15 ODIs. But at least they didn't lose to Scotland, right?

Never thought I'd see England beat Australia by a margin as large as 242 runs. Astonishing stuff at Trent Bridge.

1st instance of England spinners taking 7 wickets in an innings since GP Swann (3-36) & JC Tredwell (4-48) v India at Chennai on 17 March 2011. 1st occurrence in a home ODI.#EngvAus
