India had bowled out South Africa towards the end of Day 3 at 275 runs. The strong hard work done by their tailenders went into the vein as they remained unsuccessful in avoiding the follow-on. As the day four started off Virat Kohli enforced the follow-on over the Proteas.
It looked like the visitors will give a strong fightback after facing the agony of a follow-on but they looked quite helpless in front of the Indian bowling line up. Ishant Sharma started his day with the wicket on his second delivery of the day. Then after Umesh Yadav complimented his teammate by taking the wicket of Theunis de Bruyn for the second time in the same match. Saha took a blinder by diving towards his left to collect the ball that came taking the wooden edge of the bat.
Proteas batsmen kneeled down against Indian bowlers
Dean Elgar ended as the top scorer of the side before he played a mistimed lofted shot against Ravichandran Ashwin that was caught by Umesh Yadav. Experienced player Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis went out very cheaply in the second innings who got out against Team India spinners. South African tail yet again came strong who conclusively added more than 60 runs from behind.
Elgar looked pretty good and tried his hard to unsettle Mohammed Shami with three boundaries in his over but couldn’t overcome his weakness against Ashwin. This was the 6th occasion that Elgar got out to Chennai-born spinner. Temba Bavuma for the first time on the tour looked settled before Rahane took an exceptional catch at the first slip and got out after adding just 37 runs in score tally.
This was the first instance since 2006 that Proteas have lost any Test with a margin of an inning and 100+ runs to any team other than Australia and England. India and South Africa are still to play the last Test of the series in Ranchi but the hosts have predominantly got their hands over their first home Tests series this year. Umesh Yadav and Ravi Ashwin shared six wickets each throughout the match.

With the series gone, the sad part of all this is that you couldn’t have asked for better conditions in India.only a bit of spin and you got good pace and bounce…wonder what feedback we’ll get. #sscricket

India's biggest win over South Africa. Been better at all aspects. And the series has been won, not on minefields, but on perfectly good tracks. This one in Pune was excellent.
