In spite of it being a rain-interrupted game at the Kennington Oval, the crowd got their money’s worth. Some swashbuckling innings by the batsmen from both the teams set the tone for the day. England went on to win the game by 6 runs as per the Duckworth Lewis Stern method. Earlier in the day, it was captain Eoin Morgan who won the toss as he elected to bowl first. With no Alex Hales and Ben Stokes, Jason Roy and Sam Billings were back in the mix. Windies decided to drop Devendra Bishoo.
The Caribbeans didn’t have a great start as Gayle was dismissed early into the innings. They continued to lose wickets as Chris Woakes got Shai Hope and later got rid of Marlon Samuels as well which left the visitors reeling at 33/3. With Evin Lewis at the other end, Jason Mohammed played a decent knock of 46. Both put up a fourth-wicket partnership of 117 runs.
Evin Lewis batted really well to reach his hundred. However, the storm was building up. He alongside skipper Jason Holder put up a session of some sensational pinch-hitting on display. While Lewis had to retire hurt after what was a magnificent inning 176 (130) with 17 boundaries and 7 sixes, Jason Holder also scored a splendid 77 (62). The Windies posted a total of 356/5 in their quota of 50 overs.
As for England, they were also off to a splendour start. Jason Roy was on a hitting spree as he and Bairstow put up a 126 runs partnership for the first wicket. Roy went on to score a solid 84 (66) to keep England in the hunt. That’s when Alzarri Joseph struck a significant spell in the midst of an England chase. He got all the five English wickets in his six overs. The likes of Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan and Sam Billings went back to the pavilion one after the other. England were reduced to 181/5 before Moeen Ali and Jos Buttler took the attack on the Windies bowlers.
Moeen Ali was batting on 48 (25) while Jos Buttler was not out on 43 (35) before rain played spoilsport. There was no further action as the match was rewarded to England for being 5 runs ahead according to the DLS method. With this win, England now lead the series 3-0.
Here are some of the amazing Twitter reactions that emerged during the course of the game:

3-0! Despite Alzarri Joseph's superb spell, Moeen Ali's late hitting takes England to a 6-run win on DLS. #ENGvWI https://t.co/e6qSGd47B9 pic.twitter.com/rMUEuqjKL2

My pleasure in Moeen Ali's genius is ruined by the hideous "musical" cacophony that starts when anyone does anything of note.

I would rather have moen or Bairstow at 3 in the ashes than vince or balance

Ewin Lewis displayed a tremendous innings building approach with skipper Jason Holder compiling a record 5th Wicket stand for the Windies.
