The Kingston Stadium witnessed an absolute firecracker of a contest as Windies went on to win the game having sealed a spectacular run chase. 20 sixes were hit in the game and 12 of them were hit by opener Evin Lewis who again came out all guns blazing against India.
Earlier in the day, it was captain Carlos Brathwaite who won the toss as Windies elected to field first. The likes of Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and Samuel Badree were back in action. For India, Rishabh Pant got to play his first game on the tour as India went in with 3 spinners.
The visitors were off to a splendid start with both Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli in some pinch hitting mode. India were cruising at 64/0 in 5.2 overs before Kohli misconnected one from Kesrick Williams. Within the next two balls, even Dhawan was back to the pavilion owing to a runout.
However, Dinesh Karthik played a crafty knock of 48 (29) alongside Rishabh Pant who provided ample support. Once both of them got out, India were again on the backfoot. Both MS Dhoni and Kedhar Jadhav failed to provide the finishing touch to the innings. A boundary and a six off the last over by Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja ensured India had 190 runs on the board. Jerome Taylor got two wickets in his 4 overs.
Windies required just one batsman to lead them all the way as Evin Lewis scored a magnificent 125 runs not out from just 62 balls as the Caribbeans cruised to victory. Gayle got out early but that in no way affected Windies who had built a great platform with Lewis around.
This was his second T20I century against India as he made a meal of the Indian bowling lineup. Marlon Samuels scored 36 (29)* as Windies chased the total losing just one wicket and with 9 balls to spare. Kuldeep Yadav was the lone wicket taker for India.
With just the one T20I game, this marked the end of India’s tour to the West Indies. Team India won the ODI series 3-1 and Windies took the T20I 1-0. Undoubtedly, Evin Lewis was awarded the Man of the Match for a stupendous knock.
Here are some of the amazing Twitter reactions during the course of the game:
Who called it "Indian bowlers" and not "Bowling machine"?

Yet another example that India have just not figured out T20s.

Ewin Lewis scores another century against India. All now left on MI and RCB to fight against each other to pick him in the next IPL auctions

In recent times, Windies only try against England, for colonial reasons, and India, for IPL contract reasons…. #wivind

Jadeja has done something productive here. 2 boundaries in 2 balls will lead to a good score. #IndvWI

The only Karthik who's good is in the commentary box #WIvsIND
— TheGoanPatiala (@TheGoanPatiala) July 9, 2017
Kohli wanted Kumble to resign so he could play 3 WKs instead of a proper fast bowling all-rounder like Binny. Clueless Kuptan.

Pant getting out immediately after Dhoni. This is like taking "following the footsteps" to a new level #WIvsIND

As India gets ready to play their 82nd T20I, Dinesh Karthik & MS Dhoni r the only survivors of India's 1st ever T20I @ Jo'burg 2006#WIvInd

Pandya injured. No Rahane, Pant to play. India playing five bowlers, two darters in Jadeja, Ashwin. Risk galore.

After calling heads throughout the ODI series, Virat Kohli calls tails in the one-off T20I at the toss. He has lost all the 6. #WIvIND
