Twitter Reactions: Fakhar Zaman perishes for a painful nine-ball duck
He didn't have it easy by any stretch of the imagination against Rohit Sharma and Co.
Back in June 2017, Pakistani left-handed opening batsman Fakhar Zaman murdered the Indian bowlers and scored his maiden century in One Day Internationals. The scintillating knock also helped the Men in Green romp to a stupendous 180-run victory against their age-old arch-rivals in the final of the Champions Trophy at Kennington Oval in London.
Thereafter, he went from strength to strength and racked up runs at will for his national team. In Pakistan’s erstwhile ODI series against Zimbabwe, he became the fastest batsman to accomplish 1000 runs in the 50-overs format. However, the North-West Frontier Province-born player couldn’t quite replicate his form in the ongoing Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Bhuvneshwar nips out Fakhar
In the first match against Hong Kong, he started in an impressive manner, but right-arm off-break bowler Ehsan Khan found his bottom edge, leading to the batter’s dismissal. In the second match against India at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, he was expected to be one of Pakistan’s gun batsmen, mostly owing to his incredible run of late in the 50-overs format.
However, he didn’t have it easy by any stretch of the imagination against Rohit Sharma and Co. Jasprit Bumrah kept him quiet and Fakhar played the over out without scoring a single run. He played out a couple of deliveries from Bhuvneshwar Kumar as well. In the first delivery of the fifth over, he tried to break the shackles and take the fast-bowler on.
He went for the pull shot, but couldn’t get on top of the delivery. The ball hit the splice of his bat and went straight up in the air. Yuzvendra Chahal settled under it and did no mistake whatsoever in grasping the leather. Eventually, he perished for a duck after playing nine deliveries. Following his dismissal, Twitter severely trolled him for his rare failure.
