Twitter Reactions: Fans call for return of Yuvraj Singh in MI team over Suryakumar Yadav

Fans want Yuvi in the XI.

The Mumbai Indians became the third team to qualify for the playoffs of the Indian Premier League 2019 season, after the Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals had made it earlier. In a thrilling encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai triumphed in the Super Over, after the main encounter ended in a tie. Mumbai Indians batted first and made 162 thanks to a half-century from Quinton de Kock and valuable contributions from Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav.

In reply, Manish Pandey scored a brilliant 71* and with Mohammad Nabi’s 31, SRH managed to draw level, when Pandey hit Hardik for a six off the last ball of 20th over, when seven runs were needed. SRH managed just 8 runs in the Super Over, losing both their wickets and then Hardik Pandya hit Rashid Khan for a six first ball, to ensure MI went into the top four.

MI fans clamour for the return of Yuvraj Singh in the middle order

This close finish has led to the MI fans calling for the return of southpaw from Punjab, Yuvraj Singh back in the playing XI, given the failures of all the people given chances in the middle order. Ishan Kishan, Evin Lewis, Ben Cutting, and Suryakumar Yadav have all gotten chances, but have failed to make it count.

The longest of all to continue in middle order his Suryakumar, who has scored 292 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 129.20 and an average of 24.33 with the best score of 59, his solitary half-century. Yuvraj Singh, who was bought for INR 1 crore in the auction, started off pretty well with a fifty- but then managed a total of 98 runs in four innings leading to him being dropped from the playing XI altogether.

However, Mumbai Indians’ fans called for Yuvraj Singh to be given another chance in the playing XI with the all-important playoffs coming up and took upto Twitter to call for the inclusion.
