VVS Laxman, Vangipurappu Venkata Sai Laxman has a very special place in the history of Indian cricket. The stylish batsman from Hyderabad known for his wristy play, Laxman was often in a position where he found himself swimming against the flow but his determination saw him beat the odds and get through on most occasions.
A superb close-in fielder, for most part of his career VVS was among the safest pair of hands on the cricket field. He was a part of the golden era of Indian cricket and helped the team win some historic matches along with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. Laxman can also be termed an unsung hero, in a team which had four top class batsmen, with each having a specific set of skills that placed them in a unique zone.
