Sun Risers Hyderabad took on Kolkata Knight Riders at their home ground. Captain David Warner won the toss as SRH elected to bat first. KKR made 4 changes as they included Shakib Al Hasan, Morne Morkel, Umesh Yadav and the comeback man Narine.
SRH began shakily as they lost quick wickets. Shikhar Dhawan failed while Warner couldn’t make much fortune after he lost his wicket off a no ball on 2. It was followed by Henriques and Hooda. However, Morgan’s promotion to No.4 worked wonders for Hyderabad as he scored an elegant knock of 51 runs from 43 balls. Naman Ojha also supported him well with a 28-ball 37 as they propelled SRH’s total to a fighting 142/7. Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for the Knight Riders as he took 3 wickets while Morkel also got a couple.

Chasing a modest 143 for victory, Uthappa and Gambhir provided a splendid start for Kolkata as both put on 92 runs for the first wicket. While Uthappa got out on 38, losing his wicket to Reddy, Gambhir batted throughout the KKR innings as he scored a magnificent 90 not out from 60 balls to take KKR home with 8 wickets left and 10 balls to spare.
Leaving Mustafizur and Henriques, no bowler was able to execute any pressure on the KKR batsmen as they cruised to victory in this vital encounter. Gambhir was also announced the man of the match and deservingly.
Twitter kept everyone entertained throughout the match proceedings with some mind boggling stats and some hilarious tweets. Here are some of the Twitter reactions that took place during the course of the game:
SRH giving the impression that if you get Warner out, the match is over. Too dependent on the skipper; others need to chip in too. #SRHvsKKR

Gambhir's second-highest score in T20s. Highest is 93 vs RCB in 2012#SRHvKKR

SRH though will have to look who badly they bowled. Little game awareness, failed to spot the ball swinging, kept bowling short

Gambhir's been under the radar but has had terrific run as yet this season. Scoring heavily, leading from the front, making KKR a powerhouse
