Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir got his pre-match prediction horribly wrong for the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Gambhir predicted that South African batting legend AB de Villiers would hit the maximum number of sixes in the match between KKR and RCB.

But then, de Villiers was dismissed for a first-ball duck by Andre Russell. And, this has got the fans talking on social media on how Gambhir got his predictions totally wrong.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore side was bowled out for a paltry total of 92, and the KKR outfit romped home with 9 wickets and a whopping 60 balls to spare.

Fans troll Gautam Gambhir after his prediction goes wrong

And, one of the focal points after the match between KKR and RCB was the prediction made by Gambhir about AB de Villiers. While one fan stated that no one should forget Gambhir even after he has stopped playing cricket, another jokingly tweeted that Gambhir is still playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders side.

Yet another fan tweeted that de Villiers scored a golden duck after Gambhir had predicted that the South African batting icon will end up scoring the most sixes in the match, and the consistency is at an unreal level.

Gautam Gambhir played 154 matches in the IPL and scored 4218 runs at an average of 31.01 and a strike rate of 123.91. The left-handed opening batsman also plundered 36 half-centuries in his IPL career as well. Apart from that, Gambhir also led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) side to 2 IPL titles during his tenure as the skipper.

On the other hand, AB de Villiers is arguably one of the greatest batsmen to have played IPL cricket. The 37-year-old has amassed a staggering 5056 runs in the IPL in 177 matches and has scored his runs at an average of 40.44 and a strike rate of 152.33. Apart from that, de Villiers has also amassed a colossal 40 fifties and 3 centuries with the willow as well.
